We are very proud to be a Church of England School and our Christian Values of Joy, Integrity and Fellowship underpin all that we do in our school. Our Christian Values and our commitment to our foundation as a Church school is shown in our School Vision which you can find as an attachment to the side of the page and also under the Information tab on the menu bar above. In the sidebar on this page you will also find our schools definition of ‘Spirituality’ which forms the basis of our times of reflection and collective worship.
We are a Voluntary Aided maintained school and are in the Deanery of the Diocese of Peterborough. We are just one of 103 Church of England schools and academies in the Peterborough Diocese family, all of whom serve their rural, urban and suburban communities.
The Diocese of Peterborough
The Diocese of Peterborough was founded in 1541 and has 348 parishes and 379 churches covering Northamptonshire, the northern part of Peterborough and the county of Rutland. Peterborough Cathedral is our mother church. With around 200 clergy and a similar number of lay ministers, the Diocese serves a population of just under a million people. The worshipping community consists of over 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds and around 12,000 people attend a service each Sunday. Almost 20,000 4-18 year olds attend over 100 church schools in the diocese. To find out more about our Diocese and what it means to be a Church of England school, please visit the website here.
Our Churches
The Church of Christ the King
The Church of Christ the King (www.ctk.org.uk) serves the large Ise Lodge Estate in Kettering, and has positive partnerships with churches across the town and wider county to help make a difference in Kettering and the Diocese of Peterborough. The Church offers a range of activities for children in its age-related groups. These groups meet together on Sundays and also during the week for socials and activities.
St.Botolph’s Church
St.Botolph’s Church (www.stbots.org.uk) in Barton Seagrave serves the village of Barton Seagrave and surrounding areas of Kettering in Northamptonshire. It has a large and varied congregation with something for everyone from the very young to the not so young! On Sundays, you can enjoy a mix of contemporary and traditional music and down to Earth teaching from the Word of God. Again, there's lots happening every week for children of all ages.
We have a close working relationship with both of our churches who are integral to our school family. Representatives from both Churches are on our Governing board and we also have opportunities to visit both Churches through the year.
Teaching Religious Education
Please see our Religious Education I-I-I (Intent - Implementation - Impact) Statement in the sidebar for information about how we teach R.E. at Hayfield Cross Church of England School.
SIAMS Inspections
We had our first SIAMs Church School Inspection in March 2018. We are very pleased with the report which can be found in the documents section on this page.
